Light Duty Driveline Damper

MUVIQ’s vast offering of Noise, Vibration, Harshness (NVH) improving damper products goes beyond the crankshaft application and includes many options for the vehicle driveline. Driveline dampers are usually torsional or linear (radial) in nature and can be found anywhere in the driveline – from the transmission housing to the slip yoke, to the driveshaft, to the transfer case. Driveline dampers can be high or low frequency, or anywhere in between.

Features/ Benefits:

  • Driveline dampers are designed for the specific application.
  • Driveline dampers can be rotational or fixed, can be torsional or linear, and can often be incorporated into an existing component already in the driveline system.
  • Driveline dampers are typically utilized to reduce a vibration or noise concern that is discovered after the system is built. It is easier to add a damper than re-engineer the drivetrain to eliminate the problem.

Description

Applications:

Light Duty: Passenger cars, premium and performance vehicles, and light commercial vehicles

Technical Attributes:

  • Driveline dampers can be used throughout the drivetrain system.
  • Driveline dampers can be used on a wide range of applications, from cars to SUVs to trucks.
  • Driveline dampers are application specific – they are often used on platform segments, not entirely “across the board.”

Value Add to Customers:

  • Driveline dampers work to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), providing the customer a more comfortable ride and increased durability of the driveline components.
  • Driveline dampers can often be implemented in very short time frames, the need for them is not always known until late in a vehicle launch.
  • Driveline dampers are a less expensive and more time effective method of controlling NVH concerns, as compared to re-engineering the drivetrain system to reduce the cause of the concern.
